Home is a very magic and special word for anyone in the world. As one my friend says, it's a place where you can always fall down and die in peace :P
For an expat home has a contradictory meaning. From one side, it is a place where you live permanently/stay for a while/sleep for more than ~3 nights. From the other, home is your motherland and your parents' house. Complicated again :)
The place where i've been living now is actually special as well. It's been more than a year in this sweet warm barrio Las Cañitas and my house is the one that attracts anyone´s attention. It has even a special page on wikipedia, cause it was built for military people in 60s of XX century. Maybe that´s why most of my neighbours of a 30-floor-building are cute old ladies and gentlemen, who share opinions and ask a lot of questions every time we catch up in the elevator or when we stop by a portero in the evenings and chat about life.
But besides such a special history of this house it has something that makes me love it more. The city view from the 22th floor gives a huge portion of inspiration, freedom and great moments when you can see horse races if you look to the right or Rio de la Plata with its ships if you look above the hippodrome. You can see the lights of Monumental Stadium and fireworks coming from small houses in Belgrano. And you can feel the city and breath it from above.

Aigul, I can understand you very well regarding the question about where is the home - as a person who has also lived in several countries in recent years. We make our lives more difficult - yet much more exciting - don't we? :)
ReplyDeleteThe view is indeed amazing.
